“The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” -2 Chronicles 16:9 NLT
I learnt or reconfirmed today that we are to aim to please God in all things, not in a way that the pressure is on us and we feel like we’re trying to earn his love, NO. But in a way that shows our love for him and submission to him. Having a perfect heart is just a heart that desires to please God.
Take that in slowly.
It’s a heart that DESIRES to PLEASE God.
That means perfection of the heart is not when all our actions, words, thoughts please God NO, it is when our DESIRE is to please God. God loves and accepts us as we desire to please him despite having not attained that expected level of holy living.
This doesn’t mean we don’t need to live holy lives, No, but it means God values our heart and the genuine desires in our heart more than the actions we take.
Some might read these words and see them as an encouragement to live unholy lives and do as the flesh pleases taking God for granted. While others will realize it’s much more harder to have a holy heart and filter our desires making God our priority. You can pretend with your actions, fake a holy life, lie with your words, while your heart is full of greed and flesh gratifying things.
But to have a heart that’s totally submitted to God, a genuine heart?…
The psalmist said “Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me”
This is my prayer for today 🙇🏽♀️
Very well said! 😁
